Therefore I'm pleased to share that for the YA2014 I'll be riding a Whyte 29er Carbon dressed in its finest and quite unique TORQ orange & black colors (thank you Whyte)..!
Whyte have won so many accolades with this bike and after riding it for some 9 months now I can certainly see why. This bike is the most comfortable and confidence giving bike I've ever had the pleasure of siting my backside on - and pretty rapid with it!
Only last night I was at the Lotus test track with my local Tri club, belting round the test circuit with road & TT bikes - and even with reasonably knobbly Schwalbe "Racing Ralphs EVO's" I was told to slow down at the front of a group at 28mph...!
Although the bike is in the 29er form, this doesn't stop it from being a nimble little critter! Sharing the same track length as a 26" wheeled bike it carries more speed and sure footedness than a 26" and in what I feel more comfort too - needless to say I'll be very happy having this between my legs in the mighty Himalayas!
The rest of the bike is finished with of the amazing STANS ZTR ARCH EX hoops - running tubeless of course and STANS hubs which run super smooth. As for the forks these are currently SR Suntour Epicon's however I feel that these may be changed to a set of Magura's in the near future - I think I'm pasting these a little too much and fel that I need a little more "plushness" given the terrain I'll be facing.
The drivetrain and shifting is provided by Shimano XT throughout, with cabling provided by the super (and orange) JAGWIRE slick cables (my wife thinks that these look like the "veins" of the bike - I like the way that sounds!), and the finishing kit is all RITCHEY WCS Alloy compnents - which is lighter and probably stronger than most carbon rivals and pedals are Crank Bros Candy 2's in of course orange!
All in all this is on super bike which I have to say is a joy and a privilege to ride & always look forward to my next ride!
